India is a place of spiritual and religious significance. In india there are many festivals and occasions when people observe fast to show their respect, love and faith for our deities.

These occasions can be weekly fast, navratri, ekadashi, shivratri, pradosh and many more such days. I do fasting on every monday. Similarly all 7 days are devoted to some deities and devotees observe fast on particular day. There are so many days you can't actually keep a count of it.

In India, fasting rules varies from community to community, place to place. There are certain ingredients one can eat as per their rule but others may not add that to their vrat food. Eg We don't eat cumin seeds, chillies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, many vegetables, ground spices.

So while making my fasting recipes, I do keep in mind to avoid these ingredients. But these are allowed by maximum people. So before deciding your menu for fasting, check with your family members first.

Use refined oil and ghee to cook on these days. Complete no to mustard oil.
