Indian Fasting Food Options
But thank God there are some options of food we can consume. These are called falahar or farari bhoj. And in these falahar dishes, many flours (no grain) and vegetables are restricted like onion, garlic, and many more. There are a few of the vegetables and flour which we can eat during this vrat or fasting.
How to make kuttu aloo patties/ tikki?
Ingredients -
Boiled potatoes, kuttu/ buckwheat flour, rock salt, black pepper crushed
Instructions -
These tikki or patties are too easy to prepare. Only you need boiled and cooled potatoes. Roughly mash the potatoes in a large mixing bowl. Then add the flour (kuttu or buckwheat), rock salt, black pepper powder, and green chili (if you eat).
Mix well and shape them into a patty or as per your choice (with a greased palm). Then deep fry them in hot oil till they turn golden and crispy. Flip them on both sides to cook them evenly. And the crispy patties are ready. You can also have them with tea or with curd or tomato dip (different for fasting) or even with any curry made for fasting.
