Crispy Potato Chips - Fasting Recipe

Potato Chips are super easy to make. This is a quick tea-time snack. But I make these chips in my fasting days or vrat. On fasting days of Navratri or on Monday fasting, this is my favorite tea-time snack.

    Potato Chips

To make the chips crispy, you need to soak them in cold water for 30 - 40 minutes. This helps remove starch from the potatoes, making the chips crispy.

After frying, you can add salt and pepper. Add rock salt for fasting days; for other days, add regular sea salt.

This is again another finger food option for kids and toddlers. This is an instant chip to add to your fasting recipe list.

How to make crispy potato chips?

This is an instant chips recipe and we don't need to dry the potatoes in the sunlight to dehydrate them. Yet they turn really crispy and perfect for snacking.

    Ingredients

    Potatoes

    Ice water

    Refined Vegetable Oil

    Rock Salt

    Instructions

Peel off the skin of the potatoes and wash them. Make slices with the help of a slicer or a sharp knife. Keep them thin slices. Place the slices on a colander and wash them thoroughly to remove extra starch.

Once done, dip them in a bowl of ice water for 30 - 40 minutes. Then, take them out and pat dry with a clean paper towel or air dry for 3 - 5 minutes. This step is important to make crispy chips.

In the meantime, heat oil in a kadai or pan. Once the oil is hot, drop the slices one by one and fry until each side is crispy and turns golden. Flip them as and when required. Remove once they are equally cooked on both sides. Sprinkle some rock salt and give a gentle mix. Or serve without any salt, as preferred.
