
Lauki Raita | Doodhi Raita | Weight Loss Recipe
Raita is a savoury preparation from curd. Lauki raita is a combination of lauki or bottle gourd and whisked curd.
This is a variation to the regular raita. This dish belongs to North Indian Cuisine.
Out of all types of raita, my favourite is our traditional cucumber tomato onion raita. Also read boondi raita, carrots raita and bathua raita on blog.
This is in fact an easy and quick dish that completes our menu. You can make raita from any vegetables and fruits. Some raita is savoury and tangy where as many fruits raita are sweet and sour in taste.
This is a no onion no garlic recipe and perfect for fasting recipe. You can make this as side dish for your Navratri Vrat Recipes like sama rice khichdi.
You can make this dish for your weight-loss journey. Make one bowl for your main course and this will keep you full for at least 4 - 5 hrs.
Curd is rich in protein. Also this is rich in calcium. Calcium helps and boosts the process of thermogenesis which increases metabolism. At the same time bottle gourd or lauki is full of fiber. So this awesome combination of protein and fiber is truly beneficial for weight-loss.

How to make lauki raita?
Peel skin and wash thoroughly. Grate lauki or bottle gourd with help of a grater.
Add 1 cup water to the grated lauki in a bowl and boil it for 5 - 7 minutes.
Then strain out water and wash it with cold water.
Squeeze out excess water and roughly grind lauki.
Add lauki, chopped coriander leaves, green chillies, powdered roasted cumin seeds, red chilli powder, black salt to whisked curd.
Mix them well. Lauki raita is ready.

Lauki Raita
Ingredients
- 1 cup grated bottle gourd
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- 1 cup Curd
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 Green Chilli (Optional)
- 1 tsp Coriander leaves Finely Chopped
Instructions
- Boil grated lauki for 10 minutes. Remove from heat. Strain them with help of a colander and let it cool for some time.
- Grind them to a coarse paste. Add curd, salt and mix well. Dilute with water as per required consistency.
- Make coarse powder of dry roasted cumin seeds with help of palms. Add finely chopped coriander leaves and green chillies.
