Air Fryer Peppers - Highlights
- great side dish
- can serve in many ways
- less preparation and efforts
- less than 15 minutes
- no oily and soggy peppers
- plant-based, gluten-free
- low in carb and calorie
- can customize the flavor
Ingredients-
Bell peppers - take any color of bell pepper or a mix of all available peppers.
Onions - These are optional and you can add the sliced onions if you want to add them. I have not taken for this recipe. But I do add onions many times.
Onion powder - I have added onion powder instead for that flavor and substituted onion with onion powder.
Garlic powder - This adds a ton of fresh flavor to the dish. You can add fresh garlic too, but they might get burnt in high heat while cooking peppers.
Cayenne pepper / smoked paprika - this adds a smokiness to peppers. However, this is optional and you may skip them.
Salt & pepper - as taste.
Optional seasoning - I love to add fajita seasoning and Italian seasoning to my veggies. However, I have not added any other seasoning to the peppers.
How To Make Air Fryer Bell Peppers?
It's an easy task to roast bell peppers in the air fryer. No hard work or preparation time.
Preheat the air fryer to 400° F for 3 minutes.
In the meantime, you need to deseed the peppers and remove the crown. Slice the peppers or dice into pieces.
Add your favorite seasonings with a drizzle of some olive oil. Toss to coat the peppers.
Then finally transfer the peppers to a preheated air fryer basket. Cook for 10 - 12 minutes till they turn tender with charred edges.
Shake the basket at halfway on 6 minutes. Keep an eye after 10 minutes as they may get overcooked or get burnt (especially if sliced thin).
More Tips
- If you are cooking in larger quantities, it may take more time.
- Never overcrowd the air fryer basket with peppers. They may take even longer since all will not get equal heat and may turn soggy with moisture too.
- If cooking for a large family, make it in batches rather than for even and fast cooking.
- Every air fryer is different. So expect 2 - 3 minutes of variation from the said timing. Keep an eye on them after the 8-minute mark. Air frying longer may result in burnt peppers.
