Air Fryer Baby Potatoes
Air fryers provide a quick and efficient cooking method. Using the air fryer, you can prepare perfectly crispy baby potatoes in a fraction of the time compared to the conventional oven or stovetop method.
Though it works like an oven, because of the compact size and high-speed fan, the hot air circulation cooks the food quicker without making the room hot. And they make the texture crisper than the other two ways (baking and deep-frying). And that's even more satisfying to me.

How to make air fryer baby potatoes?
This is an easy recipe with a few tips for perfect crispy potatoes. I prefer a classic combination of garlic, salt, and pepper with a kick of paprika. You can easily customize the seasonings to suit your taste preferences. Adding herbs also brings a nice aromatic flavor to the potatoes.
Let's see the ingredients you will need, along with stepwise instructions.
Ingredients:
- Baby potatoes
- Olive oil
- Salt & black pepper
- Seasonings - garlic powder, paprika, or any herbs of choice or Italian Seasonings
Instructions to roast baby potatoes in the air fryer:
- First, clean the baby potatoes thoroughly. Clean any dirt, etc., since we are not removing the skin. You can also use a brush to clean the potatoes.
- Cut the baby potatoes into halves and transfer them to a mixing bowl.
- Add ice water and keep aside for 10 - 15 minutes. This will result in crispier potatoes. You can also use whole potatoes without cutting. But cutting will add flavors in a better way.
- Then remove it from water and pat it dry with a clean kitchen napkin.
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 - 4 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, toss the baby potatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and seasonings of choice. Toss to coat the potatoes evenly.
- Place the seasoned baby potatoes in a single layer in the air fryer basket (preheated). Avoid overcrowding to ensure even cooking.
- Cook the baby potatoes in the air fryer for about 12 minutes, shaking the basket or flipping the potatoes halfway through the cooking time.
- Cooking times may vary by 2 - 3 minutes depending on the size of the potatoes and the air fryer model, so keep an eye on them to prevent overcooking.
- Once the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they are ready to be served. Check the doneness with a fork.
- Remove the baby potatoes from the air fryer and transfer them to a serving dish.
- Sprinkle some parmesan cheese and some finely chopped fresh herbs. Serve hot.

Extra Tips
- Feel free to adjust the cooking time and seasoning according to your preference.
- Cooking times may vary by 2 - 3 minutes depending on the size of the potatoes and the air fryer model. Keep an eye on them if your air fryer is new to you. Once you know your timing, you don't need to bother overcooking.
- Don't overcrowd the tray since they need space for hot air to travel through. Rather, make them in batches if you are making them in large quantities.
- Wash the potatoes after cutting to remove excess starch. Ice water immersion will result in crispier potatoes anyway. However, this step is optional; you may skip it if you lack time.
