If you are looking for a quick snack on fasting days, these kuttu potato chips are perfect to make in your tea time snack. This is gluten-free.

    Indian Fasting Recipes

On fasting days, very few vegetables and flour are allowed. Buckwheat (kuttu), water chestnut (singhara), amaranth (rajgira), and samvat are the only grains allowed.ย All of these grains are gluten-free and a powerhouse of nutrients. So, while all fasting recipes are linked to our devotion, they are also healthy for our body and mind.

    How To Make Kuttu Chips?

These chips are easy to make and take less than 15 minutes to make. They are also gluten-free snacks. Kuttu chips are a kind of potato chips or fritters coated with kuttu, aka buckwheat flour batter. Making these chips is really easy and takes less time, too.

    Ingredients

    Potatoes

    Buckwheat flour or kuttu atta

    Rock salt

    Black pepper powder

    Water to make the batter

    Oil to deep fry

    Instructions -

Wash and clean the potatoes. Peel the skin with a peeler. Slice the potatoes into thin slices and soak them in cold water for 5 minutes. Remove them from the water and pat them dry with a paper napkin. You can also let them air dry for 2 - 3 minutes.

Prepare a batter of flour, rock salt, and black pepper. Keep a coating consistency of the batter.

In the meantime, heat oil in a kadai or pan. Dip a slice of potato into the batter.

Drop batter-coated potato slices into hot oil. Deep fry till it's dark in color and crisp outside. Flip to cook all sides evenly. Remove from heat when done on both sides equally.
