What are fritters?
Fritters are traditionally deep-fried snacks, basically a portion of vegetables, or proteins (meat or plant-based) that are battered, breaded, or not breaded. However, you can make them healthier with alternative cooking methods like baking, air frying, etc.
To make fritters you will need a binding agent like flour, slurry, bread crumbs like panko crumbs, or a mix of any of them. You can customize them as your requirement (dietary also). Regular flour that gives a crispy texture is all-purpose flour or refined flour. You don't really need eggs or any dairy to make your fritters taste better. You still can make the best vegan fritters.
However, for a gluten-free version, you may love to replace this flour with other gluten-free flour. Some of the best gluten-free flour/flour for fritters are chickpeas flour, rice flour, and buckwheat flour. Also corn starch, tapioca starch, and potato starch add a bit more crispiness to the fritters.
