Southwest salad dressing is a tangy and flavorful dressing that is easy to make. Toss with veggies or use as a topping on tacos, fajitas, etc, and enjoy a Southwestern or Tex-Mex flair.

potato tacos - vegan mexican recipes

It takes only 5 minutes and no cooking, no preparation. And save for up to a week or so.

If you love Mexican food and flavors, you are going to love this creamy salad dressing for sure. The sauce or dressing has all flavors you will love and enjoy in your food.

Starting from the bold taco seasoning, it has zesty lime juice to smokiness in it. This creamy salad dressing is just a few minutes to prepare and store for months of use.

    Southwest Salad Dressing

Southwest salad dressing is a zesty and creamy blend of flavors that adds a punch to any salad.

This Southwest salad is made with creamy mayo, greek yogurt, and a blend of flavorful spices. It's incredibly easy to make this salad dressing by mixing the ingredients together.

It offers a tangy and slightly spicy taste that complements salads with a Southwestern or Tex-Mex twist. It's a delicious way to elevate your salad and enhance its overall taste.

Though it's a salad dressing you can also use this as a spread, dip as well. This is one of the flavorful dressings that will enhance the taste of the simple salad or any appetizers we serve it with.

I also love to make my Southwest salad with avocado lime dressing. For Mexican flavor, I also love cilantro lime sauce as a dip or topping over tacos, fajitas, etc.

    Ingredients required -

Mayonnaise or Sour Cream - To make a vegan dressing, use vegan mayonnaise or vegan sour cream.

Greek yogurt - Take them individually or add half and half of the mayonnaise / sour cream with Greek yogurt. For a healthier version of crema, you can also take only Greek yogurt and no mayo. However, for vegan use vegan yogurt.

Seasoning - onion powder, garlic powder, cumin powder, smoked paprika, chili powder/ cayenne pepper. Smoked paprika adds a smokiness to the dressing. If you have sweet paprika, you may add a few drops of liquid smoke.

Lime juice + Orange Juice - These are key elements that balance the flavors. However, you can skip orange in case you don't have it. Only lemon juice will work too.

How to make Southwest Salad dressing?

It's really easy to make southwest salad dressing. Combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl and whisk to smooth. Alternatively, you can blend them or mix them in a food processor (if made in a larger amount specifically). Adjust seasonings as per taste and preference.

    How to store southwest dressing?

Transfer the dressing to a clean dry airtight jar. Refrigerate for future use. This stays good for 8 - 10 days. You may store it for 2 weeks, but there might be variations in flavors.

    Serving Ideas

Drizzle the dressing sauce over the potato tacos, tofu fajitas, cauliflower tacos, vegan burrito bowl, or burrito wrap.

Use the salad dressing with southwest salad or make a taco salad yummy, tangy, and delicious with the southwest dressing.

Serve this as a dip with any of the appetizers, especially potato appetizers like potato wedges, sliced potatoes, French fries, smashed potatoes, roasted baby potatoes, or simply any roasted vegetables. This easy dip is a must-pair with any of these air fryer appetizers. Check out my air fryer potato recipes.
