Paneer Paratha | Paneer Stuffed Paratha | Kids Tiffin Box Recipe

Paneer paratha is a healthy breakfast and an excellent kid's tiffin box recipe. Originally this is a North Indian food recipe.

Paratha or say stuffed paratha is quite popular in North India. If you ever travel via road in North India, all dhabas have a common breakfast menu of parathas. These are traditional foods of Punjab, Haryana & Up.

Normally these are breakfast items to keep you full for longer. But you can also make these stuffed paratha for lunch or dinner. And I love all kinds of stuffed parathas 😉

Read my other paratha recipes here: aloo paratha, gobi paratha, veg mughlai paratha, methi paratha.

I always make paneer at home for best results. Read hear how to make paneer at home. And if we are not pressing the cheese, then it's only 5 minutes. But always take full-fat milk for making the best quality paneer at home.

    What is Paneer Paratha?

Paneer Paratha is a North Indian food. This is made by stuffing paneer or cottage cheese in whole wheat flatbreads or paratha. Then brush them with desi ghee (unsalted butter/ clarified butter) and roast them evenly.

You can prepare the stuffing in 2 ways. 1. You can saute the crumbled paneer with onion and other spices. And 2nd way is just to mix spices with crumbled paneer. No need to saute them.

Paneer paratha goes perfect with a cup of ginger tea (adrak chai) and some pickle. Just awesome combo. However, if you are making these stuffed parathas for lunch or dinner, then you may add any raita or plain curd to the menu. If you are hot very diet conscious then add 1 dollop od extra butter or malai on top of it.

Tips to Make Perfect Paneer Paratha

    # Knead the flour to smooth and soft dough. Allow it to rest for 10 minutes after kneading.

    # Use homemade paneer for the best results. Squeeze out excess liquid by hanging it for 10 minutes after straining.

    # Always cook the paratha on medium to high heat. Otherwise, it will be more oily and tight (not crisp). Make sure the griddle is hot while you put the rolled paratha on it.

    Method of Preparation

Step 1: Prepare Stuffing of Paneer

Take a mixing bowl. Add crumbled paneer, finely chopped onions, green chili, coriander leaves, salt, coriander powder, red chili powder, lemon juice and mix it well thoroughly. Now stuffing is ready to be used.

Step 2: Prepare Dough for Paratha

In a large mixing bowl, add 2 cups of wheat flour. Add a pinch of salt. Then add water slowly and gradually and knead to make a soft yet smooth dough. Knead well and make a soft dough and keep aside for 5 mins. After 5 mins make medium to large balls of equal size.

Step 3: Final Filling and Paratha Preparation

Then roll out the ball into a circle with the help of a rolling pin. Put 1 - 2 tbsp paneer stuffing on the center of the circle. Now bring the edges of this and press it lightly to seal the edges.

Make a smooth ball. Make sure all edges joined properly in the center. Else the stuffing will come out.

Again roll this again to a larger circle of 7 - 8-inch diameter. Roll it evenly by putting equal pressure. Sprinkle dry flour to avoid sticking of dough to the rolling pin.

Now heat a pan on high to medium flame and place the rolled paratha on it. When the base is slightly cooked, flip over. Apply ghee or refined oil on the top side. Then again flip it and apply ghee on the other side.

Flip again once or twice to cook it properly on both sides. It will be golden brown when completely cooked. Also, check the sides of the paratha by pressing the edges with a spatula so that they will be equally cooked.

Now take out the paratha and serve with extra butter/ makhhan and curd/ raita/ Prickle.

    Prepare Dough for Paratha

    • Now take out the paratha and serve with extra butter/ makhhan and curd/ raaita/ Prickle.

    Notes

    1. Make soft dough, otherwise it will be difficult to roll out a tight dough with the stuffing inside. Stuffing will come out and will spoil the preparation.
    2. Heat Pan before you put the paratha on it.
    3. Don't over stuff the paratha. It will ooze out of the paratha and will get spoiled.
