Try this onion raita if you want to make one of the quickest side dishes for your one-pot rice. It's a simple yet flavorful side dish for lunches.

    onion raita

Onion raita is a refreshing and cooling Indian side dish with yogurt, finely chopped onions, and simple spices. It pairs perfectly with biryani, pulao, or parathas, balancing spicy flavors with its creamy texture. This raita is quick and easy to prepare and adds a delicious and tangy touch to any meal.

The Onion Raita Recipe,ย orย Pyaz Ka Raita,ย is made with sliced red onions and beaten curd. Raita is an easy recipe that serves as a side dish in our Indian main course. This is a versatile dish where you can add salad, vegetables, or fruits for variation.

    Onion Raita

This is one of the most simple and easy-to-make side dishes. It requires only a few of the ingredients.

    Ingredients

    • Onion
    • Yogurt/ Curd
    • Iced water
    • Salt
    • Green Chilies
    • Roasted cumin powder
    • Red chili powder (optional)

    Instructions

Slice the onions thinly. Dip the onions in chilled ice water for 10 - 15 minutes. This will make the onions crunchy. Whisk the curd to smooth. Add onions to the curd, then salt to taste, a pinch of chili powder, and roasted cumin seeds powder. Mix them well and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.

Also, add 1 tsp chopped coriander leaves and green chilies to the raita. I also added a pinch of red chili powder and chat masala. You can add black salt instead of regular salt or a mix of both.
