Chilli Cheese Sandwich | Mumbai Street Style Sandwich step-by-step instructions and photo.
Sandwich is always a comfort food for me that saves lot of cooking time. It’s mainly assembling ingredients and either you grill it, toast it or pan fry with little butter or ghee brushed on breads.
Totally filling and amazing sandwiches are quick to make and doesn’t take more than 15 minutes. Many toast and sandwich doesn’t take more than 5 minutes even.
So I feel these are life saving tiffin box ideas for kids. At the same time you can always add variety to the sandwich you are making. My kid loves pizza sandwich, potato cheese sandwich and chocolate sandwich.
This chilli cheese sandwich is one of the best street side sandwich that is easy and tasty also. We don’t need to do much in preparation of sandwiches.
At the same time these are filling also so that kids will not be hungry quickly. These sandwiches goes very well with any sauce or dips. For kids tomato ketchup is best whereas for us I feel green chutney (cilantro & mint dip) is best.
If you want to make your toast healthier, then replace white breads with brown breads (whole wheat) or multi grain breads. You can also use ghee in place of butter.

Chilli Cheese Sandwich
- 1/2 cup Coriander leaves finely chopped
- 1/4 cup Mint Leaves
- 5- 6 Garlic pods
- 5 – 6 Green Chillies
- 1 tsp Lemon Juice
- 1/4 tsp Salt
Prepare Green Chutney
- Grind all ingredients mentioned above in ingredients list under green chutney.
- Apply butter/ ghee on one side of slices.
- Apply green chutney on same slices after butter.
- In a mixing bowl add grated cheese, finely chopped capsicum, onions, green chillies, salt and lemon juice. Mix well.
- Now place 2 tsp cheese mixture on top of bread slice.
- Then cover it with another slice of bread.
- Repeat for all bread slices.
- Apply ghee or butter on top & bottom side of sandwiches.
- Then grill it till both sides are crisp and golden.
- REmove and serve hot or warm with ketchup or any dip/ chutney.
How to make chilli cheese sandwich?
Prepare Green Chutney
Blend coriander leaves, mint leaves, green chillies, lemon juice, salt and a pinch of chat masala (optional) to a smooth paste.
In a mixing bowl add grated cheese, finely chopped capsicum, onions, green chillies, salt and lemon juice. Mix well.
Apply butter/ ghee on one side of slices. Apply green chutney on same slices after butter.
Now place 2 tsp cheese mixture on top of bread slice. Then cover it with another slice of bread.
Repeat for all bread slices.
Apply ghee or butter on top & bottom side of sandwiches. Then grill it till both sides are crisp and golden. Remove and serve hot or warm with ketchup or any dip/ chutney.
