Instant Rava Idli (Instant Semolina Idli)
Instant rava idli is an easy breakfast and kid's tiffin box recipe. This requires no preparation and takes less than 30 minutes to prepare.
Also, if required, you can add lots of veggies to this. Here, I have added only a tampering of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, ginger, and chilies.
Add grated carrots, beans, and peas to make this a healthy breakfast recipe for kids. This is even one of the best finger foods for toddlers learning self-feeding.
It's an easy recipe with only two primary ingredients. Of course, you must add salt and other tampering to your taste, but that is optional.
The only requirement is to soak this for 10 to 15 minutes so that the semolina will soak up and absorb moisture. This will make the idlis soft and fluffy. You can also add a little bit of soda or fruit salt (eno) to make the idlis softer and fluffier.

Then Add tampering of mustard seeds, cumin seeds, chopped ginger, chillies, and onion into the bowl. Mix well and whisk the batter for one minute or two.
Cover with a lid and set aside for 10 - 15 minutes. If you run out of time in the morning, you can make the batter and store it in the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, just take out the batter, place it on idli molds, and steam for 10 - 15 minutes.

Getting the kids to eat vegetables is always a tough task. I am so happy to see you share this recipe giving ideas for kids’ breakfast. The picture you have shared is also nice. Idli needs soaking grains overnight and we often forget it the night before. This Rava Idli Recipe seems to simplify the whole process.

You are absolutely right for making regular idli with rice and lentils, we need to soak them for 6 - 8 hours and then 8 - 12 hrs fermentation is essential. So it requires lot of pre-planning and preparation required. However, it can be made in large batch for the whole week.
Thank you so much for your feedback.
