I make simple syrup in a large batch and store it in a glass jar for 1 - 2 weeks minimum. Those who are looking for healthier options may skip this simple syrup which is made with refined sugar. Alternatively, they can substitute it with honey, maple syrup, stevia drops, etc.
To make simple syrup, take 1 cup sugar in a saucepan and to it add 3/4 cup water. Turn on the stovetop and heat it until all sugar just melted. Don't overcook it after that as it may stiffen the liquid when cooled. Once it's done remove from heat and allow to cool down to room temperature. Store it in an air-tight glass jar for further use.
