Cappuccino!! my all-time favorite. Make this homemade cappuccino in just 5 minutes and without any coffee machine.
Normally I'm not a coffee person. I prefer tea over coffee at any given point in time. But I have a special connection with this cappuccino coffee. This coffee is quite popular as the beaten coffee as it includes the act of beating or whipping the coffee into an airy and frothy mixture.
Homemade Cappuccino - Indian Beaten Coffee
When it comes to cafe style cappuccino, I have one favorite place that is Cafe Coffee Day (CCD). My husband is a Starbucks fan. Though all of them are great, I don't know why my love for this CCD cappuccino is something different.
All these cafes have special coffee machines for making coffee in minutes. These machines are expensive. And also the coffee is a bit expensive in any such cafe name it CCD or Barista or Starbucks.
But the good news is you can make this cappuccino in a similar way at your home within minutes. The only thing required is a good blender. Which is way cheaper than that of expensive coffee machines. Even if you don't have a blender, you can whisk it easily using a wired hand whisk. Or even a spoon is enough for beating the coffee if you are making it in small quantities.
Variations of Cappuccino
This homemade cappuccino coffee or beaten coffee is made with only 3 ingredients. The best part of this coffee is, it's equally foamy and frothy. If you want you can top it with vanilla cream or chocolate cream. But I love this blunt and strong.
There is another way to make this cappuccino too. In which you need to froth the milk with the help of milk frother. This is because cappuccino has a 1/3rd foamy layer. Beat the coffee for a few minutes till it's light and airy and changes color. Then add foamy milk on top of beaten coffee.
Also, to make mocha coffee add an equal amount of cocoa powder & coffee powder while beating. This is a delight of those who have to satisfy their sweet tooth.
Some other related questions
Here the mixture of instant coffee and sugar is beaten to incorporate air into it. So that when hot milk goes into this frothy coffee, it creates a foamy frothy layer on top of the cup.
In cappuccino coffee, the ratio of milk to coffee should be 1/3rd cup espresso, 1/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup foam.
Yes, you can keep this beaten coffee in the refrigerator for 4 - 5 days. Or even a week. Just remove from the refrigerator and let it rest on the platform till it comes to room temperature. Then add to hot milk for a fresh cup of cappuccino. (Don't freeze it.)
Hmm, the way it's made is almost the same. Dalgona is a South Korean whipped coffee. It resembles the same as Indian beaten coffee or cappuccino coffee. In both coffee forms, coffee and sugar mix is beaten and whipped to the frothy and airy mixture.
The difference is in layering. In hot Indian cappuccino, the base layer is beaten coffee and milk is poured on it, whereas in Dalgona, the chilled milk is layered with beaten coffee on top of milk. Normally Dalgona is cold coffee but some prefer it with hot milk just like Indian beaten coffee.
Only Instant coffee goes best for this beaten coffee recipe. Powdered coffee won't be able to do the magic. This is because instant coffee has xantham gum which helps in making it airy when beaten. I have tried the recipe with regular coffee powder but it failed. So for sure try only with instant coffee powder.
And the answer is a simple "No". I have tried with regular coffee powder and failed miserably. It didn't turn that thick, creamy and frothy after beating for 30 minutes with an electric beater.
