If you are looking for a quick appetizer, then this crispy corn chaat is one of the best to try. This is good to serve a larger crowd indeed.

In crispy corn chaat, the crispy fried corn is either sauteed or assembled with onions, tomatoes, garlic, etc along with flavorful seasoning making this tangy, spicy, crunchy, and yummy appetizer.

BBQ Nation Style Crispy Corn Chaat

    Crispy Corn

Crispy corn chaat is a great party appetizer and an easy party snack item. You can make the crispy corn in 2 ways.

    • Fried corn with finely chopped onions, green chili & coriander leaves, and making this a kind of salad
    • Saute the fried corn with chopped onion and garlic, green chilies, and coriander leaves.

For that tangy flavor add lemon juice or vinegar. Vinegar is normally used while sauteeing with onion and garlic.

    Crispy Corn Chaat

There is another healthy way of making corn chaat. That is different from this Corn Chaat as that is made from only boiled sweet corn. But for parties and get-togethers, this makes a perfect appetizer. The major task is frying the corn to make them crunchy and crispy.

How to make crispy corn chaat?

    Ingredients you'll need-

    For corn coating -

Fresh Corn kernels - boil them before frying. Also, cool them before adding flour.

    Flour - all-purpose flour + cornstarch

Seasoning - paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper

Any Vegetable Oil - for deep frying

    Other Ingredients -

    Onion - finely chopped

    Garlic - minced finely

    Tomato - finely chopped

Spices - paprika or red chili powder, a pinch of salt, vinegar

Lemon juice - optional - while serving

Coriander leaves - handful of fresh finely chopped

    Instructions -

    • Boil corn kernels and cool it before adding any flour to it.
    • Once it's cold enough, add refined flour and corn flour to it. Mix well. If required add 1 tbsp water but don't add more water. Make sure the corn kernels are just coated.
    • Heat oil in a deep frying pan. Drop the kernels into hot oil. But careful as it might burst spilling the oil all over. Cover the pan to avoid such a condition.
    • Once the corn is fried well, it will float on the surface of the oil. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper napkin
    • Heat another pan and add 2 tbsp oil. Add chopped onion and garlic and saute till translucent.
    • Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, and fried corn kernels. Add a pinch of salt, and vinegar and saute for 2 minutes.
    • Remove from heat add chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.

    Tips of cautiousness

Be careful while frying these coated corns in oil. After dropping them into oil, it starts to burst, spilling oil all over. So just be careful while dropping battered corn into oil. Do that as quickly as possible. Then immediately cover it with a lid for a few minutes.
