How to cut the cabbage to roast in air fryer?
To make the roasted cabbage in the air fryer, make sure to cut them a little thicker. If you are cut them like discs or as wedges as per choice. I have made them in discs here.
First, cut the stem off the cabbage. Them slice it horizontally making discs of 2 cm - 3 cm (3/4 to 1 inch) thickness each. This will make roughly 4 flat discs of equivalent shape.
For wedges, cut them vertically into equal halves. Then again cut the halves into two halves. Now the cabbage is cut in 4 equal halves (quarters). Take one part and cut it into two equal parts. For that, start cutting from the edge towards the base. In the end you will have 8 wedges in the end.
Don't worry if the sides get burnt or charred.
How to make air fryer cabbage?
Preheat the air fryer at 400 F or 200c for 3 - 4 minutes.
Place the cabbage on a clean plate and brush the surface with oil. Then sprinkle onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper or paprika, salt, and pepper on the cabbage discs.
Flip the cabbage and repeat the oil brushing and seasoning to the cabbage. Carefully transfer the discs into the air fryer basket or arrange them on the tray. Make sure they are not overlapped with one another.
Now start the air fryer at 400F for 10 minutes. Flip them in the half at around 5 minutes. Take the help of a wide spatula to flip them gently.
Timing may vary depending on the thickness of the slices or wedges. If the disc is thinner, it might take lesser time as compared to the thick ones. Decide after you flip the discs and keep checking at intervals.
How to serve?
This is a great side dish that goes well with any meal. You can have this roasted cabbage with your meat or with vegetarian meals. This is too delicious to add to the meal. Or serve as snacks. This is a healthy way to keep yourself full.
How to store & reheat?
This is easy to store and can be stored in the refrigerator for 3 - 4 days when stored properly in an airtight container. To store the roasted cabbage, cool it completely. To reheat, place it in the air fryer and heat at 380 F for 2 minutes or until it's warm.
Don't have an air fryer?? No problem, you can roast them nicely in the oven as well. Place the seasoned slices of cabbage on a greased and lined baking tray. Preheat the oven. Then place the tray inside the oven and cook at 400 F or 200C for 20 - 25 minutes, until the sides look brown with a tender center.
