This Matcha Lemonade is a copycat Starbucks Lemonade recipe; we tried to replicate the popular drink in taste and flavors. You can also enjoy a similar flavor at home in hot summers. This is one of the healthiest summer drinks you can make for yourself.

    Matcha lemonade

On a hot summer day, there's nothing more refreshing than a tall glass of icy lemonade. But if you're looking for something more interesting than usual, you must try making this matcha lemonade.

    What is matcha?

Matcha is a type of green tea powder traditionally used in Japanese tea ceremonies. Its unique flavor is earthy and slightly sweet, and it also provides a natural source of caffeine.

Read more about Matcha tea - What does matcha taste like. Also, don't forget to read other Starbucks copycat beverages here.

    Matcha Lemonade

This delicious beverage combines matcha green tea's earthy taste with lemonade's tart sweetness, creating a perfect balance of flavors.

Matcha is rich in antioxidants and has been shown to boost energy levels, so it's the perfect drink to enjoy on a hot day.

Plus, no ordinary lemonade can boast such a beautiful bright green color.

This is a popular iced beverage at Starbucks. Matcha tea originates in Japan, but I would say Starbucks made this drink popular in the USA and worldwide.

How to make Matcha Lemonade at home?

Making the copycat Starbucks Matcha lemonade is as simple as making any other lemonade. So, make a chilled matcha lemonade at home and enjoy the summer!

You can make them in two ways. First, make matcha tea by mixing matcha powder with hot water to make a decoction. Then, add it to the lemonade and mix.

The second way is to add the powder directly to the lemonade and shake it until it is mixed with it.

Both ways work for the iced lemonade recipe. However, I prefer to add them directly to my iced lemonade and shake them for a few minutes. And I'm done with a fantastic summer drink, Starbucks style.

Add simple syrup and sparkling water to make lemonade, followed by lemon juice. Then, add matcha powder and a lot of ice, and shake, possibly using a shaker.

For a healthier sip, skip simple syrup (white sugar) and substitute it with honey, maple syrup, or stevia. Stevia is the best option, though.

What Matcha powder does Starbucks use?

Starbucks uses a blend of matcha powder and sweetener in its matcha drinks. So you can expect a sweet taste in the matcha lemonade. Also, the sweet and sour taste of the drink makes it more appealing to our taste buds.

    Is Iced Matcha Lemonade Healthier?

Yes. Matcha lemonade is a combination of matcha green tea and lemonade.

Lemonade helps to keep us hydrated in hot summers and is also thirst-quenching. Adding matcha powder boosts the level of antioxidants in it, along with other vitamins and nutrients matcha tea has. Also, you can eliminate the sugar in your homemade matcha lemonade.

    Notes

Feel free to change the quantity/amount of ingredients as per taste.
For sweetener, available options are - white sugar/ simple syrup, honey, maple syrup, stevia. Choose your sweetener amount according to your taste.
The matcha we get in market are the powdered green tea without any sugar. So adding a little bit will balance the sour flavor of the lemons. However, you can completely skip that and make a milder tasting matcha lemonade.
