This vegan chocolate banana bread is one of the best bread I have tried yet. My banana bread is very simple and made in 30 minutes with minimal ingredients. Above all this is definitely a kid's favorite cake with it's chocolaty flavor.
However, this chocolate banana bread is not a gluten-free recipe. I have made separate banana bread with gluten-free flour. Also, read my gluten-free banana bread recipe here.
If you love chocolates and chocolate flavors, I'm sure you are going to love this simple yet delicious cake. Make this for breakfast or for tea time snack, or make this for dessert, this bread is just awesome. And kids will love this too. You know why!! Chocolate flavor. Just make and refrigerate for a week. But trust me it will end up in a day or two.
Best Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread
Here I have used refined flour for making this bread. Hence this is not gluten-free. However, I have also made my other banana bread with gluten-free flour too. Moreover, I love banana bread. So I keep on trying the vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free versions. Try my vegan gluten-free peanut butter banana baked oatmeal.
This chocolate flavored banana bread is not only vegan but also perfectly moist, soft, and delicious. Here I have added cashew nuts. If you are allergic to nuts, you may skip them. Rather add some more chocolate chips for more chocolaty flavor.
How to make vegan chocolate banana bread from scratch?
Ingredients:
As I have mentioned above, a very easy recipe with few ingredients, like flour, cocoa powder, sugar, bananas, oil, non-dairy milk, vanilla extract, & for toppings a few cashew-nuts (or walnuts/ raisins/ dried berries/ dairy-free choco chips). Just be careful with measurements to get perfect moist chocolate banana bread (vegan or with dairy). You can also play around with ingredients to make your favorite banana bread.
Flour - Here I have taken refined flour. You can also take half half refined flour and wheat flour to make it little healthier. Also you can make this vegan chocolate banana bread with gluten free flour or flour mix.
Cocoa powder - Cocoa powder adds chocolaty flavor to the bread. If you want a plain banana bread, you may skip cocoa powder. But this is a must for chocolate flavored banana bread.
Banana - Take over ripe bananas for this bread.
Instructions:
Preheat oven at 200 degree. In a mixing bowl add all dry ingredients passing through a sieve. Then add mashed banana, oil, almond milk and cashew nuts (or choco chips, walnuts, raisins, etc). Give it a nice stir and make a batter of flowing thick consistency.
Now grease a bread pan with butter and pour in the batter into it. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Then remove from oven and let it cool for some time. Take out the butter paper. Slice the bread into equal sized pieces.
Can I store the banana bread in refrigerator?
Yes you can store the bread in refrigerator in an air tight pouch for a week. It will stay moist and fresh.
Can I freeze the banana bread?
Yes this banana bread is freezer friendly. Keep in freezer-friendly container and it will stay fresh for upto 2 months. When want to use, just thaw it in refrigerator for some hours. But trust me these are so delicious that you may not take even weeks to finish this banana bread.
Can I make gluten free banana bread?
Absolutely, you may love gluten-free banana bread as well. Those who are gluten sensitive can also munch on these delicious bread. These are healthy as well if we will compare to regular banana bread made with refined flour. Take any gluten-free flour or a blend of gluten-free flours. I love these gluten-free banana bread made with buckwheat flour and a mixture of oatmeal flour and water chestnut flour.
What are the other items I can make with the same mixture or batter of chocolate banana bread?
Ohh, in case you want to make it in small batches, for one or two people, you may love to make banana bread muffins or banana bread cupcakes. You can make 2 minutes cupcakes for your lazy desserts. You can also make instant pancakes with this batter. For pancakes, you may add little more water/ vegan milk for required batter consistency. For kids make vegan dora cakes in banana flavour.
