If you love chocolates and chocolate flavors, I'm sure you will love this simple yet delicious cake. Make this for breakfast, tea-time snacks, or dessert; this bread is incredible. And kids will love this, too. Make this and refrigerate for a week. But trust me, it will end in a day or two.
Best Vegan Chocolate Banana Bread
Here, I use refined flour to make this bread. Hence, this is not gluten-free. However, I have also made more banana bread with gluten-free flour, such as buckwheat and millet flour. Moreover, I love banana bread. So, I keep trying the vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free versions. Try my peanut butter banana baked oatmeal.
This chocolate-flavored banana bread is vegan and perfectly moist, soft, and delicious. Here, I have added cashew nuts. If you are allergic to nuts, you may skip them. Instead, add some more chocolate chips for a more chocolaty flavor.
How to make vegan chocolate banana bread?
Ingredients:
As I have mentioned above, this a simple recipe with few ingredients, like flour, cocoa powder, sugar, bananas, oil, non-dairy milk, vanilla extract, & for toppings, a few cashew nuts (or walnuts/ raisins/ dried berries/ dairy-free choco chips).
Flour - Here, I have taken refined flour. You can also take half-refined flour and wheat flour to make it healthier. Also, you can make this vegan chocolate banana bread with gluten-free flour or flour mix.
Cocoa powder - Cocoa powder adds a chocolaty flavor to the bread. If you want plain banana bread, you may skip cocoa powder. But this is a must for chocolate-flavored banana bread.
Banana - Take overripe bananas for this bread. This adds natural sweetness and keeps the cake moist.
Oil - Vegetable refined oil
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. In a mixing bowl, add all dry ingredients, passing through a sieve. Then add mashed banana, oil, almond milk, and cashew nuts (or choco chips, walnuts, raisins, etc). Give it a nice stir and make a batter with a flowing, thick consistency.
Now grease a bread pan with butter and pour the batter into it. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Then remove from oven and let it cool for some time. Take out the butter paper. Slice the bread into equal-sized pieces.
Can I store the banana bread in the refrigerator?
You can store the bread in an airtight pouch in the refrigerator for a week. It will stay moist and fresh.
Can I freeze the banana bread?
Yes, this banana bread is freezer-friendly. Keep it in a freezer-friendly container, and it will stay fresh for up to 2 months. When you want to use it, just thaw it in the refrigerator for some hours. But trust me, these are so delicious that you may not take even weeks to finish this banana bread.
Can I make gluten-free banana bread?
You may love gluten-free banana bread as well. Take any gluten-free flour or a blend of gluten-free flour. I love this gluten-free banana bread made with buckwheat flour and a mixture of oatmeal and water chestnut flour. Also try this with finger millet flour, it tastes amazing too.

- 1 ยฝ cup refined flour 250gms
- โ cup sugar
- ยฝ cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ยผ tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
- ยฝ cup oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ยฝ cup almond milk
- 2 tbsp cashew nuts
- 3 banana (over-ripe)
Instructions
- Preheat oven at 400 degree.
- Grease a loaf pan.
- Take mashed overripe bananas.
- Add all other ingredients to the pan other than dry flours.
- Add dry flour passing through the sieve.
- Mix all ingredients well until combined using a spoon and fold method.
- Don't overmix.
- Then transfer the batter to the loaf pan. pat once or twice.
- Bake for 30 - 35 minutes.
- Check the readiness of bread with a toothpick. If it comes out clean, baking is complete.
- Otherwise place for another 10 minutes in oven.
- Once done, remove from oven and keep aside to cool.
- Remove from loaf pan and cut into equal sized slices.
