Strawberry is a seasonal fruit and so enjoy this vegan breakfast smoothie in seasons. However you can enjoy this smoothie all season with your frozen strawberries as well.
Strawberry banana smoothie is an easy and simple smoothie. We need few ingredients as well to make this healthy filling breakfast smoothie. I have added this smoothie to my lazy vegan recipes, since this is really quick and easy for your workdays breakfast.
Strawberry is a seasonal fruit and plentily available in cold in India (from October till January) and from April top June in the USA. June is the peak season for sweet strawberries there. It's highly perishable fruit. So better to consume them fresh.
However you can also refrigerate the strawberries for few days, but the quicker you eat them or use them the better these are in taste. I make my strawberry compote which I make often in season. Strawberry limeade is too good in summers.
The smoothie is really delish when made with fresh pulpy strawberries. However, you can enjoy the smoothies in other seasons as well with dried berries. But I love it more when made with fresh strawberries.
Adding banana to the red sweet tangy strawberries makes the smoothie more delicious and rich.
How to make strawberry banana smoothie?
This is an easy recipe. There are no magic ingredients. This smoothie is made with 4 ingredients only, i.e. almond milk, fresh strawberries, banana, maple syrup or agave. You may also add other toppings like nuts or fruits, granola, oat meals.
You can make this as a smoothie or smoothie bowl. Add lesser milk for a creamy smoothie bowl and more milk for a smoothie to serve in a glass.
You can also use frozen strawberries and frozen banana to make your healthy smoothie. You can make this a smoothie or as a smoothie bowl for your breakfast.
How to store the smoothie?
You can make this strawberry banana smoothie for 2 - 3 days and refrigerate in glass bottles sealed with caps. Else just make a puree of strawberry and refrigerate and when planning to make smoothie in 1 - 2 days, add them to banana, milk in a blender or juicer. Blend it smooth.
You can also freeze the smoothie as well. Remove from freezer and defrost it for 1 hour or till it becomes in a state you can eat as smoothie bowl or as ice cream. Great snack in hot summers. Kids gonna love this too.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
- 2 cups strawberries fresh or frozen
- 1 banana
- 1/4 cup almond milk or dairy-free yogurt
- 1 tbsp maple syrup or agave if required sweetness
- 1 cup ice
- 2 tbsp chopped dry fruits
- 1 tbsp protein powder
- 1 tsp soaked chia seeds
- Add all ingredients in a blender.
- If other toppings if any (protein powder, spinach greens, oat meals, etc.)
- Blend it for a minute or till smooth.
- Pour in a glass and add extra toppings of dry fruits.
For Smoothie Bowl
- For smoothie bowl add only a little milk just enough to blend the ingredients.
- Add any extra toppings to the smoothie bowl.
