Whole Masoor Dal / Indian Brown Lentils Soup
This is a healthy Indian Dal which is served with rice and roti.

Instructions
  1. Soak dal in water for 30 minutes. Then pressure cook in 1 glass water for 4 whistles. Add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder & 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp a pan. Add cumin seeds and let it crackle. Add chopped onions, garlic and saute till translucent.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes and saute till they are soft. Add coriander powder, red chilli powder and red chilli powder. Mix well.
  4. Add 1/4 cup water and simmer for another minute. Add pressure cooked dal to the pan and mix well.
  5. Add 1 tsp kasuri methi and 1 tsp coriander leaves and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
  6. Turn off gas after 5 minutes. Add 1/2 tsp garam masala to the dal. Also add ghee or clarified butter in the end and serve hot with rice or chapati (flat bread)
