Simple Carrot & Celery Raita/ Savory Curd Dip
Raita is a condiment from Indian subcontinent which is made by mixing hung curd or beaten curd with raw salad vegetables. Vegetables used in raita varies like cucumber, tomato, carrots, red onion, green chillies or even fruits. Raita is very common side dish in Indian cuisine. In a way raita is similar to Tzatziki of Mediterranean & Middle East but again there is slightly difference with their origin and ingredients. Cucumber is the hero ingredient in Tzatziki along with curd where as in Raita there is variation of vegetables and fruits used. In Tzatziki, dill leaves or Mint leaves are used in herbs where as raita contains cilantro/ coriander in herbs.
This variation is a easy recipe with 4 ingredients only. I have used grated carrots and cilantro leaves in this raita. To make this spicy i have added a pinch of chilli powder. You can replace chilli powder with green chillies as well.
